Simplebim 6.1 SR3 (29.8.2017)

Bug Fixes

  • IFC export: bug fixed in exporting the new IFC4 geometry type IfcTriangulatedFaceSet
  • IFC export: bug fixed that caused openings to be closed with a very thin surface on some models
  • IFC import: bug fixed in handling curtain walls that are inserted into an opening in another wall (nested openings)
  • IFC import: fixes for special geometry cases
  • 3D Palette: bug fixed that caused some models that are very far from the origin not to show up in the 3D palette
  • Table Palette: stability and performance improvements
  • Template: bug fixed in setting other than text property values for group properties in the Enrichment section
  • Basic quantities tool: bug fixed in calculating quantities for objects that are very far from the origin
  • Location Editor: bug fixed in importing location prism footprint for models that don’t have any building storeys

Simplebim 6.1 SR2 (7.8.2017)

Enhancements

  • Table Palette: tabs added to table palette to enable fast switching between views and for persisting multiple views in the user settings.
  • Templates: added section for rotating site around a given pivot points

Bug Fixes

  • Model Placement Editor: bug fixed that caused a crash with models that don’t have a site object
  • Startup: bug fixed that caused a red startup screen with ‘Key already exists’ message, which was caused by a most recently used file list containing two entries that differ only by upper/lowercase.
  • Workspace: protect against crash when opening workspace from settings
  • Script: bug fixed in scripts that merge models and don’t apply a template after merging.
  • IFC import: bug fixed that caused an invalid placement for objects inside assemblies in specific circumstances.
  • IFC export: bug fixed that caused a crash with some models when exporting with the ‘Optimized Shared Geometries’ export option

Enhancements

  • Table Palette: added coloring of objects based on hierarchy in the table palette and other improvements
  • Templates: improved reporting for invalid Match values (regular expressions)
  • Templates: significant performance improvements in applying Enrichment section
  • IFC Export: support added for exporting property sets for opening elements

Bug Fixes

  • Table Palette: bug fixed in copying rows to the clipboard from a group row
  • IFC Export: bug fixed in exporting classification systems to IFC4 with items that don’t have any reference tokens
  • IFC Export: bug fixed in using the Optimized Shared Geometries export option
  • Flatten Contained Geometries tool: significant performance improvement and bug fixed in exporting flattened geometries to IFC

Simplebim 6.1 (29.5.2017)

New Features

  • Clipping planes in the 3D palette. You can set any number of clipping planes from faces in your model or isolate a selection by automatically creating clipping planes around the selection.
  • Viewer navigation option. Normally Simplebim uses the right mouse button for navigation because the left button is used for drag&drop. With the more familiar viewer navigation you use the left mouse button for navigation but loose the possibility to drag&drop object from the 3D palette.
  •  New Quick Select options; Topmost assembly or Single object, Type Object, Object Classification, Object Group, Zone, System, Subsystem – Downstream and Subsystem – Upstream.
  • Localized versions for Finnish and German (preview)

Enhancements

  • New BCF Manager version 3.1
  • Area selection: the accuracy of the area selection in the 3D palette is improved and it now has two modes. Selecting from left to right select all objects that intersect the selection rectangle while selecting from right to left only selects objects that are completely inside the selection rectangle
  • Overall performance improvements, especially in populating the Properties palette
  • Multiple improvements to running Simplebim with a script; script variables, template variables and wildcards in file names when merging models.
  • Quick Select user interface improvements
  • Significantly improved Table Viewer workspace now supports ad-hoc grouping and can show also group properties.
  • Location Editor: improved support and new configuration options for assemblies relating to how assemblies are split when objects contained by an assembly are assigned to locations and/or split. • IFC Import / Export: Improved support new geometry types in IFC4
  • Systems: The ‘System Name’ property of objects that belong to a system is now automatically updated when the name of the system is edited.

Bug Fixes

  • Workspace: bug fixed in persisting layouts with tabbed panels in the canvas area
  • Template: bug fixed in setting property value based on empty string property value
  • IFC Import: bug fixed importing classification systems in cases where each building element is assigned to a classification item with its own relationship object, i.e. there are as many relationship objects as there are assigned building elements.
  • Excel export: bug fixed exporting text values longer than 32767 characters, which is the limit set for a cell value by Excel. Longer strings are truncated to 32767 characters. • Properties Palette: crashed when showing tooltip for very long text values
  • IFC Export: bug fixed in exporting IFC models that have element assemblies from .cube files that are created with the Simplebim 6.0 release version before a related bug was fixed in 6.0 SR1.
  • IFC Export: fixed a few non consequential schema where rule violations in the exported IFC file.
  • Geometry optimization. Fixed issue that effected model splitter, duplicate check, overlapping objects check and other geometry related functions.
  • Calculate Basic Quantities tool: fixed issue in related to the building element part quantities.

Simplebim 6.0 SR5 (17.3.2017)

Enhancements

  • IFC Import: The IFC import now also works with ifcZIP files where the ModifyTime is in an invalid format
  • Add Min and Max Elevation and Center Point -tool: now also adds ‘Elevation from Building Storey’ property to the objects. The value is the vertical distance between the level of the building storey containing the object and the bottom elevation of the contained object’s geometry.

Bug Fixes

  • IFC Export: exporting geometry did not function correctly when the model had been scaled to different units using a template
  • Property Editor: editing the value of a property that had two values, such that as a result it had only one value, crashed if the editing was completed by clicking on the other value of that property.
  • IFC Import: the property “Name (material)” marked as read-only because editing this property has no effect on the exported IFC

Simplebim 6.0 SR4 (22.2.2017)

Bug Fixes

  • Template: it was not possible to use substitution if property values were copied from another object through a relationship
  • Template: the transformation was calculated incorrectly when moving and rotating sites that were originally already rotated
  • Property Editor: trying to clear property values before a property was selected caused a crash
  • Containment Editor: clearing the name of a container caused a crash under some circumstances
  • Properties Palette: sorting properties by category, such as Property Set, could cause a crash
  • Startup: the order of templates in the startup screen was not always stored correctly between sessions

Simplebim 6.0 SR3 (7.2.2017)

Enhancements

  • Templates: added option for copying model information to the objects that are part of a model

Bug Fixes

  • Workspace: sometimes workspaces were not saved properly and the result was a blank workspace. The workspace now automatically reverts to the default if blank.
  • Workspace: resetting a workspace did not work if the workspace had not been saved once before
  • Containment Palette: renaming containers crashed if the container contained space boundary objects
  • Properties Palette: editing a property value and confirming the change by clicking on the edited property or another value of the edited property caused a crash
  • Properties Palette: Container Name and Building Storey Name properties were not updated correctly on contained objects when the container name was edited in the Properties palette
  • Visualizer Palette: crashed under specific circumstances when applying a template while editing a scheme

Simplebim 6.0 SR2 (31.1.2017)

Enhancements

  • Model Placement Editor: user interface for coordinate input and help texts improved

Bug Fixes

  • IFC Export: when a wall or slab has openings and consists of building element parts, the openings were exported to the wrong location
  • Location Editor: only resolving locations without splitting crashed in specific circumstances
  • Model Placement Editor: some valid values did not validate and were not accepted
  • Properties Palette: application crashed when a rule based group was shown and the model was changed such that the group no longer contained any objects
  • 3D Palette: there was a bug in displaying some models that are very far from the global origin
  • Delete Empty Containers Tool: the tool failed if a building element was an empty container (contained only objects that have no geometry) and also had a type object
  • 3D Palette: bugs fixed in the Set Color functionality
  • BCF Manager: for some models that are very far from the global origin the stored camera positions did not work correctly
  • 3D Palette: for some models that are very far from the global origin the basic views (top, front, left…) did not work correctly

Enhancements

  • Excel Export: Element assemblies can now be exported to Excel
  • Excel Export: Progress reporting added to Excel export
  • Excel Export: Worksheets are now sorted alphabetically and measure values cells are rounded. The rounding is done with a format string and all cell values are still stored with full accuracy

Bug Fixes

  •  Adding a new building storey in the Containment palette; canceling the operation caused the application to crash
  • Enrichment sample template; object class was missing
  • Model splitting; on Windows 10 the application crashed during the splitting operation
  • Resolving locations; data was unnecessarily removed from element assemblies
  • IFC export; in a special geometric context the geometry of affected objects was exported incorrectly
  • IFC export; unsupported type of site geometry caused all objects to be located at the origin of the site
  • Flatten Contained Geometries Tool: used incorrect geometric representation type name, which caused the import to fail in Solibri
